The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Tuesday arrested a Class-II officer posted at the office of the Deputy Director of Foreign Trade in Rajkot for taking bribe. Liladhar Keshav Shrivastav, 56, a Foreign Trade Development Officer was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a complainant to change the PAN card number in the Export License.

An exporter erroneously wrote the wrong Permanent Account Number (PAN) in the application form to obtain a license to carry out foreign trade. The complainant then filed an application at the office of the Deputy Director of Foreign Trade in Rajkot to have the PAN number in the license corrected.

However, the accused, LK Shrivastav, sought a bribe of Rs 6,000 from the businessman to effect the change. After paying a sum of Rs 2,000 on Tuesday morning, with the rest to be paid after the job was done, the businessman filed a complaint with the ACB which then set a trap.

When Shrivastav accepted the Rs 4,000 bribe from the complainant in the afternoon, he was caught red-handed by the team led by PI CJ Sureja of ACB Rajkot.
